Hot varieties of copper processing materials, including calendered copper foil, lead frame copper strip, transformer strip... China has about 250 kinds of copper processing materials, nearly 1000 product varieties, and is one of the countries with the richest product varieties in the world. In the numerous varieties of copper processing materials, a large number of hot and internationally advanced products have emerged, which represent the mainstream direction of modern processing technology and application.

In recent years, great changes have taken place in the varieties of copper processing materials in China. In close combination with the market and scientific and technological development needs, significant achievements have been made in the development of new products and materials. In order to meet the various demands of national economy, science and technology for copper products, various copper processing enterprises have also formulated a number of internal supply technical standards.

(1) Calendered copper foil

Calendered copper foil is an important material for flexible printed circuit board (FPC).

With the promotion and popularization of high-end, miniaturized and portable electronic products such as mobile phones, laptops, digital cameras, video cameras, LCD displays, etc., the demand for flexible printed circuit boards has soared.

(2) Lead frame copper strip

Lead frame copper strip is the key material of integrated circuit. At present, lead frame packaging accounts for more than 80% of all IC packaging, and is used to manufacture integrated circuits and discrete device lead frames. At present, the self-sufficiency rate of copper strips for discrete devices has been improved in China, while the lead frame copper strips for high integration still rely on imports. C194 alloy with medium strength and conductivity has been industrialized in China, while C7025 alloy with high strength and conductivity has been developed. The copper chromium zirconium alloy with higher strength is still blank. This project of Chinalco Luotong and Chinalco Daye focuses on lead frame and cable copper strip.

(3) Transformer copper strip

It is mainly used to make winding units of dry-type transformers, and has been widely used in oil immersed transformers, with great market potential.

It is resistant to impulse voltage, strong in short circuit and overload, high in efficiency, flame retardant, explosion-proof, low in noise, small in size, light in weight, maintenance free, low in operating cost, and has high use safety and environmental adaptability.

In the middle and late last century, dry-type transformers developed rapidly all over the world and entered China in the late 1980s. At present, China has become one of the largest dry transformation production and sales countries in the world. In 2005, the output has exceeded 50 million KVA. In general, 400KG copper tape is used for every 1000KVA capacity of dry transformer at low-voltage side. If the high and low voltage sides are all made of copper tape, 880KG copper tape shall be used for every 1000KVA capacity.

At present, all high and low voltage copper strips account for about 20% of the total output, and the rest are copper strips for low voltage and copper wires for high voltage. In 2006, the use of copper strips for transformers exceeded 60000 tons. The demand of this product is that the coil weight is larger, the precision is higher, the surface quality is better, the conductivity is higher, and the strip edge is free of burrs.

(4) Cable copper strip

It is mainly used for shielding communication cables, RF cables, electronic cables and leaky cables.

High frequency welding is divided into copper tube and outer winding.

1) Communication cables are cables that transmit telephone, telegraph, television, fax, data and other telecommunication signals;

2) RF cable is applicable to the cable used to transmit RF signals in radio communication, broadcasting and related electronic equipment, also known as "radio cable";

It not only has high conductivity, corrosion resistance, oxidation resistance, excellent stamping performance and good bending performance, but also requires materials with high yield ratio, excellent elasticity and stress relaxation resistance, and low cost.

Communication, computer and automobile are the three pillar markets of connectors. At present, the most commonly used copper alloy materials for making connectors are H65 brass, QSn6.5-0.1 tin bronze, and beryllium bronze used in high strength, high conductivity requirements and special occasions.

(6) The strip for welding is mainly used in the production of copper clad aluminum wire

This composite wire is used for the inner conductor of video cable, and its performance is superior to that of pure copper wire, with a typical specification of 0.38 * 132mm. This tape has high conductivity and strict width tolerance. The total domestic output has reached 35000 tons. With the development of copper aluminum composite materials, the demand for this tape is growing rapidly.

(7) The production capacity of ultra-fine, ultra-thin, high cleanliness, high-precision, complex tooth profile and heavy coil internal threaded copper tubes for air conditioning and refrigeration equipment has increased rapidly.

Compared with the bypass smooth tube, the heat transfer efficiency is increased by 2-3 times, and the copper material is saved by 30%. It can adapt to the new refrigerant with zero ozone layer destruction coefficient, thus contributing to environmental protection, energy saving, material saving, miniaturization and high efficiency of air conditioners.

The application proportion of internally ribbed copper tubes in domestic air conditioners in China has reached 80%, and is moving towards full threading. It has become an important variety of copper tubes for export, representing the level of internally ribbed copper tubes in the world.

High finned tube and external thread tube are another kind of high efficiency heat sink tube, which is three times of the heat transfer efficiency of smooth tube. They are expected to replace smooth tube products in seawater desalination and electric field main condenser.

Mosquito coil has become an important export product because of its convenient packaging, transportation and use, which rapidly replaces straight tube products.

(8) The spring of application of copper water pipe, air pipe and heating pipe for construction in China has come.

The production of copper pipe materials, copper pipe fittings and plastic copper clad pipes has been completed. Copper pipe material has become the only representative of modern building pipeline materials due to its outstanding characteristics of sterilization, non aging, corrosion resistance, good installation performance and complete recycling.

(9) Although copper alloy tubes for condensers are challenged by the application of welded stainless steel copper tubes, with the development of the electric power industry, the output of copper alloy condenser tubes is still growing gradually, and the application of copper alloy condenser tubes in marine engineering, ships, seawater desalination, chemical industry, paper making, sugar production and other aspects is expanding.
